Jackie Griggs has been a practicing midwife since 1992, and a nurse since 1979. Her qualifications and certifications include the following:

Masters in Nursing, specializing in midwifery from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (April 2001)

Recipient of the Hazel Corbin Award (2001) from the Maternity Center Association of the United States (Award for best student midwifery research 2001)

Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas in Galveston (1998)

Documented by the Texas Department of Health as a midwife since 1990

Board certified lactation consultant (1995, IBCLC) 

Accredited La Leche League Leader since 1985

Assisted with over 1,000 births in hospitals, birth centers, and homes

Has worked in a variety of settings: hospital Labor and Delivery, newborn nursery, clinics, private office, birth center, and home births, and water births 

Certified in CPR and NNR (neonatal resuscitation)- Renewed annually.

Attends annual continuing education conferences

Member and current President (2005-), Association of Texas Midwives (ATM) since 1986

Member, American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) since 1999 

Member, Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA) since 1995 

Founding Member, Association of Houston Midwives, Treasurer 1993-2003

Mother of five sons, three born at home with the assistance of midwives
